Karin is a jazz and classical pianist and composer. She received her music degrees from the University of Washington. She received two Milnor Roberts awards, two Bainbridge Music and Arts awards and an Artist's Support grant from the Jack Straw Cultural Center. In 2019 she received a Golden Key first place national award for her composition “Confluence” and an invitation to play in a festival in Vienna.
Karin plays many styles including jazz, latin, contemporary, show tunes, tango, ragtime, novelty and classical. She knows approximately 1000 tunes by heart.
Karin has worked in Japan, Europe, Seattle and around the US. She currently plays at 1201 3rd Avenue Tower in downtown Seattle on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays at Kelnero in Edmonds. She is a regular at the Royal Room in their series “Piano Starts Here” which features the work of famous jazz composers.
Karin has released three CD’s, primarily of her own tunes.
